Nihad  Kabir

Chairman of Trustee Board 

Nihad Kabir, Barrister, President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry has  taken over as the Chairman of the Trustee Board of Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) for the year 2017. Nihad Kabir succeeds Syed Nasim Manzur who served BUILD as Chairman in 2016.

Nihad Kabir is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and a Director and shareholder of Kedarpur Tea Co Ltd.. She is a director of Brac Bank, Infrastructure Development Company, Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation,bKash, and independent director of Square Pharmaceuticals and Apex Footwear.She is also the Chairperson of Brac-EPL Investments and Brac-EPL Stock Brokerage.

Ferdaus Ara Begum

CEO

Ferdaus Ara Begum is presently working as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD).  Begum has vast experience of working with the private sector since 1987.

A Master's degree holder in Economics from Dhaka University,she completed her post-graduate Diploma in International Economics and Institutions and received training from AIT, Thailand on Project Implementation and Management. She attended Training on Services and International Trade Law and development in Esami, Arusha and Tanzania. She has previously acted as the In-Charge of the DCCI Research Cell for several years and served as Secretaryof the DCCI for some time, as well as working as Executive Director of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry for a number of years.

She has managed numerous projects and coordinated a number of national and international programmes, contributing her extensive expertise to the areas of policy research and advocacy, SME development and promotion,research on Multilateral Training System (MTS),project management, women entrepreneurship development, chamber management etc. She has also worked for CIPE, ITC, JETRO, GIZ in different capacities.

Moshaddek Alam

Senior Communication and Advocacy Associate

Moshaddek Alam holds both English Honours and Masters in English. Previously, he was involved in research, training, material development and adaptation and facilitation until2013 at the British Council Bangladesh. As well as the council, he worked for the World Vegetable Center (AVRDC) in 2014 and Access 2 Information(A2i)Project of Bangladesh Government. He attended the LSE Training Woskshop on HealthTechnology Assessment in Melborne, Australia 2014 by The London School of Economics and  Political Science-UK and attended the IntensiveTrainerTraining (ToT) Course  at British Council Bangladesh.

Internally, he ensures that employees are aware of changes and projects within the organization and distributes executive messages,prepare presentations and internal memos, and conduct meetings to share information. Externally, he represents the organization to stakeholders,interested parties and the public. He also develops and distributes materials that may explain or convey the company's policies or position on issues. Other duties may include issuing press releases, developing monthly newsletter,arranging interviews and compiling press kits.

Kanis Fatama 

Research Associate

 

Kanis Fatama is a ResearchAssociate of Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD). Kanis hasgraduated from Comilla Victoria Govt. College in Accounting and completed aMaster’s in Accounting from the same institution.

In BUILD, she looks after of theTrade & Investment Working Committee. She also serves as a focal point ofthe  Private Sector Development PolicyCoordination Committee (PSDPCC) which is established at the Prime Minister’sOffice (PMO).

She played the lead role for the“Fish and Fisheries Business Start-up Licenses: A Regulatory Guide” publishedin September 2014 in the International Investors’ Forum. The publication wasunveiled by the Honorable Prime Minister. She has also worked on thepublication “Business Start-up Licenses: A Regulatory Guide".

Business process re-engineeringof Certification Mark (CM) License issued by Bangladesh Standards and TestingInstitute (BSTI), Cost Simulation for selected imported products in Bangladesh,Policy simplification for Super Market operations in Bangladesh, Import Policyregime: Business to Bangladesh and Service Export- A case of Indenting Serviceare some of her Research works. 

Nasib-Ul-Amin

Research Associate

Nasib-UL-Amin is abusiness administration graduate from the Bangladesh University of Business andTechnology (BUBT). His interest zones are business development, supply chainmanagement and banking.

 Nasib is a ResearchAssociate of BUILD. He is responsible for managing BUILD’s Taxation WorkingCommittee. He has completed several researches, such as Mortgage Law andRationalization of Tariff in the Boiler Manufacturing Industry. He is a keycontributor to the publication of BUILD named as “Business Start-up Licenses: ARegulatory Guide”. Nasib has attended training sessions on Investment Promotionby IFC and Cost Effective Import-Export of Cargo under Multimodal TransportSystem by Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh.

Mimma Tabassum

Research Associate

Major in Statistics in Honors and Masters from JahangirnagarUniversity, Mimma Tabassum has started working for BUILDas a ResearchAssociate. She is mainly involved in SME working committee at BUILD. Shestudied extensive research on the cost simulation of imported products toBangladesh and worked for Industrial Policy 2015 under the MinistryofIndustries. Previously, she was involved in the simplification of policiesfor financing women entrepreneurs and land allocation process simplification ofBSCIC under the SMEWC.

She is also assigned to conduct literature reviews, collectand analyze data, prepare materials for submission to granting agencies andfoundations, maintain accurate records of interviews,safe guarding theconfidentiality of subjects, as necessary, summarize interviews and provideready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/orsupervisor.

Shahriar Rawshon

Research Associate

Shahriar Rawshon holdsBBA Degree major in Finance and Banking and Production-Operation Management andMBA in Finance. She has started working for BUILD as a Research Associate. Sheis mainly involved in Financial Sector Development Working Committee (FSDWC) atBUILD. She studied extensive research on the cost simulation of importedproducts to Bangladesh and worked in Sectoral Information for DevelopingFDI Policy in Bangladesh. She was involved in the policy simplification offinancing tea under the FSDWC.

She has expertise in banking policy research, issue brief andbusiness process re-engineering, leadership and computer skills such as database,mind map and financial calculation software. Previously, she worked forGrameenphone Ltd. and also worked for International University of BusinessAgriculture and Technology (IUBAT) as a Research Assistant. She has severaljournal publications and attended various conferences both national andinternational.
